Princess Half Marathon Recap

The alarm went off at 2:30 am yet again Sunday morning. I had to get up and get ready to run the final race of the Princess weekend, the Princess Half Marathon, and get my glass slipper!

After resting all day after the 10k, I was feeling much better! My husband drove me to the front of the resort so I could get on the bus. I didn't really want to walk all the way to front of the resort.

Once I arrived at the reunion area I found my friend and we started our walk to the corrals. We were in different corrals so we parted ways.

I was in corral F. There were lots of people in front of me. After watching 7 firework displays we were off! My plan for the 1/2 was to run the first mile non-stop then do the run/walk/run Jeff Galloway method. I was feeling great and moving right along.

Magic Kingdom!
When I arrived at the Magic Kingdom I ran into some other friends. One of the girls was having shin splints and they were walking. I joined them and I'm so glad I did. We ended up walking almost the entire thing. But we had so much fun! Not sure I've ever laughed so much during a half marathon! It was my PW (personal worst) but it was by far the BEST half I've ever done!

I'm very proud of my friend Jamie. She completed her first half marathon!

Enchanted 10k Recap

Saturday morning I ran the runDisney Enchanted 10k. It is the second race of the weekend, and first race in the Glass Slipper Challenge. I had such high hopes of just having fun during this race. Take my time and enjoy the run.

I got to the start area talked with a few women and ran into some friends. Just waiting around to get into the corrals. While I was in the corral all of sudden I knew something wasn't right. I got dizzy and started shaking. This wonderful woman standing next to me looked at me and said are you ok? You just went pale. I knew I was either dehydrated or I was having an allergic reaction to something. As far as I can tell, and hoping, it was just dehydration. It was humid that morning. Most sane people probably would have run for the medic tent, but not me. I had a medal to get!

Start Line!
The first corral was off and it was time to get moving. I wasn't feeling the best, but I had no choice but to move forward. Our fireworks went off and we were off! I ran at a very slow pace for about the first 1/2 mile. After that I walked. I knew I could walk the entire way and I had to.

I brought my small handheld water bottle, so I was able to drink water during the first mile. I knew that the first water stop wasn't until after mile 1. All I kept thinking was get to water station and you'll be fine.

Elsa from Frozen

After I got to the first water station I took 3 cups and had them fill up my water bottle. I started feeling a little better. I started to run slowly then I'd feel bad then back to walking. This is how the entire race went.

Once I got to Epcot, I filled up my water bottle again and started taking pictures. Why not right?

I'm not going to bore you with mile by mile recap. They were all slower than normal, but I finished. The rest of the day I rested and just focused on feeling better. I drank lots of water and had Nuun Saturday. I HAD to get feeling better because I had a 1/2 marathon Sunday.

Finish line!!

Medal 2 of 4 for the weekend!!!

I actually feel kinda silly for letting myself get dehydrated. I'm pretty sure it was a combo of that and being hungry. It was 2:30am when I got up. I ate a small breakfast and did drink water. But I should have brought more with me to the race. Add humidity to the whole equation and you have me feeling like I was going to pass out.

Cinderella Royal Family 5k

The first race that I ran during runDisney Princess weekend was the Cinderella Royal Family 5k.

I decided to dress as Ariel! And of course I had to bring my friend Flounder along for the "swim."

Upon arriving in the staging area, I ran into my friend Jamie! We were in corral B so we were able to start the 5k together.

After the fireworks we were off. My plan was to run slow and have fun. I had two more races this weekend so I didn't want to over do it.

Me in Germany!
I didn't stop for character pictures. The lines were very long. I wasn't running for time, but I still didn't want to wait. So lots of selfies.

This was my first 5k at Disney. I really enjoyed running around Epcot.

It really was a fun run. I gave sweaty hi-fives to volunteers and one sweaty hug! It was a great way to start the weekend.

The first piece of race bling (plastic) of the weekend!

Ariel Running Costume

This year I'm running the Royal Family 5k and The Glass Slipper Challenge in this years runDisney Princess weekend! I wanted to run as Ariel this year in the 5k.

I already had a purple running shirt and of course my Sparkle Athletic kelly green skirt. I just needed to get a Flounder stuffed animal, cause Ariel can't swim without him!

For the seashell bra, I printed a seashell template. I cut the shells out of foam, and used green sparkly glue to decorate.

I attached the seashells with a couple of stitches.

The Final Outfit
Instead of wearing a red wig, I decided to go for my Sparkle Athletic Head sweats visor. Also I stitched a elastic strap to Flounder so I could wear him on my arm.

Four Days Until Princess Weekend

It would be an understatement if I said I was just a little bit excited about running during runDisney's Princess weekend. This week can't go by quick enough.

On Friday I'll run the Royal Family 5k. Saturday I'll run the Enchanted 10k and Sunday is the Princess Half Marathon. After running the 10k and 1/2 I'll earn my Glass Slipper! It's what every princess deserves and needs right!

The hardest part of having food intolerances and going on runcations is where to eat. Because I have to properly fuel my body I can't risk eating out. So what do I do? Well I have a wonderful husband who spoils me rotten. Soooooo we splurged and got a one bedroom villa at Disney's Old Key West Resort!

This week I'm prepping our meals. Well I did a lot of it last week too. I'm probably bringing enough food for family of 10 for a week:) I've made bagels, waffles, cookies all the good staples that freeze very well.

I'm really excited about running, but I think I'm more excited about not having to eat microwaved food for the weekend. Most runcations I pack canned or packaged food. And yes I have a traveling microwave. Doesn't everyone?!?! This will be a first for me and I can't wait!!

Stay tuned for more posts about our trip!!

Week Two: Move Nourish Believe Challenge

Week two was just as much fun as week one! Here's my recap of the week.

Monday: Go Meatless!

I had oatmeal with apples and raisins, a bagel and of course ENERGYbits for breakfast. My lunch was lentil soup. For dinner I had cheese pizza (not shown). Snacks I had banana, apple and That's it fruit bar.

Tuesday: Take you lunch to work!

Since I don't work, I couldn't really take my lunch. So I had a salad and made a dessert from the move nourish believe website. I made quinoa vanilla pudding and topped it with raisins. It was fabulous!!

Wednesday: Write it down!

I know very boring Wednesday. But we made homemade tacos. Which includes homemade tortillas, taco meat and homemade pico! Oh they were so good!

Had to show the yummy goodness!!
I may have to start adding this to my blog every week!

Thursday: Smoothie Day!

Of course a smoothie should be served in a fun glass! My smoothie was easy and good! Blueberries, mango and yogurt.

Friday: Go Raw Friday!

You were suppose to go to the Move Nourish Believe website and make something from their recipe collection. I looked and looked at the recipes and all of them had nuts. Since I can't have nuts I had to make something I could eat. When in doubt have fruit!

I can't believe it's the end of week two for this challenge. I've been having so much fun with this challenge I can't wait for next week!!

How was your week two?

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

My husband and I don't do the normal card, candy, flower stuff on Valentine's Day. Instead this year I signed up for two half marathons!

I'll be running the Space Coast Half marathon again this year! They were allowing last years participants to register one day early. So at 9:00am this morning I registered!! General registration opens February 15.

They second race I signed up for is the Divas Half Marathon in St. Augustine. I'm so glad they are having one so close to me! Who doesn't love feather boas, tiaras and shiny medals. And the best part is my mom will be joining me. She will be doing the 5k. Should be a fun girls weekend!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's Day!
