It was a chilly morning, probably in the 60's, but it was the perfect weather for a race. While I was waiting for the race to start, I forgot to turn my watch on. When they said go I wasn't ready. I ended up getting my watch started late and decided to just use it for the speed. I stayed behind a a guy that I've raced with before. He's faster than me and he's tall, so if I stay on his heels he guides me through the beginning of the race. Again he's faster than me so shortly after the start he was ahead of me.

By the half way point I almost caught up with him. I think it was just after mile 2 I passed him! Again my watch wasn't the correct time so I really didn't think I was going to PR. Once I crossed the finish line I went to check my time. There is was a nice shiny new PR 27:53.9!!!! The funny thing is that the woman who came in third place finished .9 seconds faster than me. Oops missed third place by less than a second :)
This is the second time I've run this race. It's a great local race! I'll be back next year!!
