Space Girl Organics Review

Yesterday we received our second delivery from Space Girl Organics. This is the best thing I've done in along time! Since my diet consists of fruits, vegetables and meat, I needed this. (Yes I've had to go grain free again.) Our Publix doesn't have the best produce, we were driving 20 minutes so that I could find decent fruits and vegetables.

This weeks order!
I receive an email on Fridays telling me what will be in my order and I have until Sunday to decide what to add or substitute. This week I substituted three things and I even added two items. Every week I'm going to have them add an avocado. I love avocados! As far as price goes, Publix avocados cost $1.50(non organic) and Space Girl Organics is $1.79.

Here is what we received this week. This is a great new way for us to try new things. Today I ate my first white nectarine! It was yummy!! I'm kinda excited to cut open that mango. I've never done it before.

Last week we received an eggplant. We sliced the eggplant topped it with diced tomatoes, salt, pepper, oregano and drizzled olive oil, then we put parmesan cheese on top and baked for 30 mins at 425 degrees. YUMMY!!!

Currently we are getting the smallest package, but we are considering getting one step up.  You can also have meat and fish added to your order when available. If you need extra produce you can add that too, their prices are very reasonable. They even have grocery items i.e.. pasta, coffee, tea etc. I so far have only added produce.

If you are here on the Space Coast you really need to check their website!

Do you have a fruit and vegetable delivery service?

Disclaimer: I pay for this delivery service. I was not compensated for my post.

runDisney Star Wars Weekend

Today runDisney announced the Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend. I was really hoping that it would be here in Florida, but no it's at Disneyland. Which would be no problem except it falls the weekend after the Disney World Marathon weekend. My first marathon.

I'm really not sure what to do. Mentally I'm ready for the challenge. Plus I'm a Star Wars nerd and would LOVE to get a Star Wars runDisney medal.

Financially, well it's Disney and can you really put a price on the happiest place on Earth? Ok yes and it would be expensive and we've been remodeling our home. But hey it's just money right?!?!

Physically I'm not sure if I can do it. I've never run 26.2 miles and I'm sure how I'll feel just one week later. Will I be ready to run 13.1?

Then there is the Coast to Coast medal. I did earn my first one in 2013 and would love another one!!

Registration is June 10, 2014. I guess I have until then to decide.

Are you planning on running the Star Wars Half Marathon weekend?

I haven't fallen off the Earth

Wow I haven't posted anything since my birthday. YIKES! We've been working on our house. It looks great, but wow it's taking up a lot of our time. I've hardly run this month due to waking up every morning feeling exhausted and sore.

In the last few weeks I've learned how to properly and improperly rip up tile and thinset. I've learned that using a sledge hammer and smashing tile is very fun! Just don't wear flip flops and watch your ankles, cause shards of tile fly. I've also learned to use lots of different tools. Watch out DIY Network I may need my own show!

Of course we are still not done. I'm hoping in the next few weeks I can learn a balance of working on our home and running and still getting things done. Marathon training starts June 16! I'm hoping to get our current project done and wait a few months before starting the next one!

Here's some photos of what we've done!

My 35th Birthday!

Most years I have what I like to call "Megan's Birthday Week!" Yes I celebrate for a week. It usually involves elaborate meals, pool days and beach days. Usually my husband can bid his schedule so we can celebrate. This year didn't work out. No worries! I was planning on having a very low key day. Just a run in the morning followed by pool time and reading a book. As it turns out my mom has the week off so she was here to celebrate with me.

I started out my morning with my alarm going off at 5:15am. Of course all I wanted to do was go back to sleep. I mean it's my bday I can do what I want right?!?! Well I got up had some coffee and breakfast and walked out to the beach for my run! I'm really glad I did. Again a cloudless sunrise and perfect temps!

Yes I did wear a tiara visor and my Sparkle Athletic skirt! Cause every birthday princess will wear whatever she wants on her birthday!! My run this morning wasn't about time. I stopped to take photos of the sunrise. I just wanted to enjoy it!

My mom showed up with lunch and wine!! Bonus she's a massage therapist so I got a massage poolside! Normally we do it in the house, but since we are remodeling and my office is in the living room we moved outside!

I'm totally going to plug my mom right now. If you are local (Brevard County FL). She's a great massage therapist and she knows how to deal with runners and all their running issues!

Sorry had to give a shout out to my mom!! After the massage we grabbed a glass of wine and floated in the pool! It was great way to spend my bday! When my husband gets back from his trip we will celebrate by finishing the floor in our office now turned into our bedroom! It's everything a girl could ask for for her birthday!!

I had to share what I got from my mom! Two great things running book and gift card to my favorite running store!! Thanks mom!!

How do you spend your birthdays? Do you get a week?

Sunrise Run

This morning I had to go to the airport at 3:45 am. Yup that's early. Since I was home just after 5 and sunrise was at 6:37, I figured I'd stay up and go run! I walked out to the beach around 6:20 and this was my view.

Today was suppose to be my rest day from running, so I decided to go one mile. It was a perfect morning for a run. 61 degrees and a slight breeze right at low tide!

It's been months since I've run on the beach. Not sure why it's been so long. My plan for tomorrow is to wake up early and go run 3.5 miles in celebration of my 35th bday.

Do you run on the beach?

Sunday April 27, 2014 - No official workout, instead I chiseled away at tile and thinset. Oh that's an arm workout.

Monday April 28, 2014 - Again no official workout, remodeling.

Tuesday April 29, 2014 - Repeat...

Wednesday April 30, 2014 - I ran!! Felt so good to be running again!!

Thursday May 1, 2014 - I got up first thing in the morning and walked one mile as part of my Megan's May Move a Mile a Day Challenge! Again more remodeling. I'm telling you using a reciprocating saw is a great upper body workout.

Friday May 2, 2014 - One mile done!

Saturday May 3, 2014 - I ran a 5k and got 1st place in my age group! I forgot to take a photo of my Garmin.

How was your week?

Race Recap: Run Thru The Ranch 5k

May 3, I ran the Run Thru The Ranch 5k. It was my last race in the 30-34 age group. Friday it rained and rained and rained. This was a trail run which I've never run on a trail.

I woke up Saturday morning and it had stopped raining! YEA! I drove out to Port St John and headed out to the ranch. Oh did I mention I had to go mudding to get there. I picked up my packet and it turns out my bib number was 1979, the year I was born! My goal for this race was to finish and not fall. I kept picturing myself face planting in the mud.

Of course before heading to the start line I took my ENERGYbits!

We got to start line and we were given instructions. We were told the first mile was pretty much on packed sand and a road, but the second mile was bad. There were puddles, HUGE puddles. In three of the areas they had to make bridges for us. The last thing we were told was this was not a race for PR's. Again my goal was not to fall.

The starting gun went off and we were starting. The first mile wasn't bad. I weaved back and forth to avoid muddy areas and even some puddle. I figured from all my weaving I was going to end up running well over 3 miles. My first mile was 10:07. Not bad considering I had to slow down just to make sure I didn't slip. Again no face planting happening here.

This wasn't bad to run on.
Mile 2 was the swamp. It was my slowest mile at 12:20. I did take lots of walk breaks just so I didn't fall.

Action shot.

Mile 3 I had to take walk breaks again cause I was tired. Not use to this off road running. Mile 3 was less muddy!!

After I finished I went to check my time which was 35:53, AND I placed 1st in my age group!!! I REALLY wanted to place in this race, but wasn't sure if I could just because of the mud. I did it!!

I won't be signing up for a tough mudder anytime soon. As I don't like running in mud. However I'm so glad I did it and I did enjoy it.

Did you run this weekend?
