Why I went Paraben Free

I'm a runner who deals with food intolerances. I can't have peanuts, tree nuts, artificial sweeteners, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, corn & corn by products(dextrose, maltodextrin etc.). So what does that mean?!?! I can't have gatorade, nuun or any other sports drinks. I also can't have sports chews or gu's. When I'm running and need to refuel I only use ENERGYbits, RECOVERYbits and water. If I'm on a long run and get hungry I eat a That's It bar.

Back in February 2014 I decided to go grain free because I was having major body joint pain. I decided to eliminate grain completely. Since I do like to cook and bake I even created my own all purpose flour and other recipes. I even have another blog with just my recipes. I've been bad about keeping it updated. I have more recipes I want to share.

Six months after being grain free (well sorta I started eating things that contained soy lecithin) and all the body pains started agin. CRAP...

I had just watched a segment on the news talking about parabens and how they effect your hormones. TMI: Since I was 14, I've had strange and weird hormone issues. I started reading the ingredients in my shampoo, condition, facial cleanser etc. Turns out, it's in EVERYTHING. I threw all of it away and bought new stuff. I started eating grains again and I didn't have any issues. Again TMI: during the week I ovulate, I sometimes end up in bed for two days because it makes me sick and tired and I can't function. Sometimes during my period it's the same thing. See, I have really strange hormone issues. Ok back on topic. For the first month I was feeling better. Then I started back sliding. CRAP AGAIN... Turns out my husbands after shave cream and shaving cream contained parabans. He shaves his head and sometimes I'll just shave the back of his head cause it's easier for me to do it than him. Seriously it's in EVERYTHING. We now have a paraben free house, I think.

I have also given up soy. I get that people have their own opions on this, but if it can affect my estrogen level it's got to go.

I am now awaiting my results from Inside Tracker. I'll post all about them later after I get my results. Sneak peek: They analyze your blood and tell you what you should eat to feel better.

So that's what's new with me. It's an always and adventure here :)
